What have I learnt from mapping?

Mapping was a short process of which included watching film trailers and noting down key text on screen and when it appeared. It also consisted of taking note of what was included on the screen and at what time of the trailer.

This will help us when it comes to creating our own trailer as it will allow us to have a guideline so we know where to include our text on screen. It will also be beneficial when it comes to deciding what text needs to be added and included into the trailer.

I believe that mapping will be extremely useful for further tasks.

The Genres we are considering.

PITCH PERFECT 2 - TRAILER MAPPING

BRIDESMAIDS - TRAILER MAPPING

Who am I working with?

I will be working in a group of three that consist of myself, Georgia and Sabrina. Personally, I believe we will work well as a group because we know how each other work and we all help each other to balance out the work. With all of us being well organised, it means the work will be done on time and to a high standard. I believe the only problems we will face is timing and scheduling of when we will meet to film parts during school, as our timetables are reasonably different. Sabrina does D.T. and Geography, along side media, which means she is able to help with designing the institution ident and logo along with the storyboard. Georgia study's Drama and Psychology which will help us when it comes to making the acting look more believable. I study Drama and English alongside Media which means I am able to check through the theoretical side of the subject and make sure it all makes sense and is of a high standard. I am sure, that as a group, we are more than able to create an excellent final piece.

There will a blog shortly following this to state which genre we have decided. The resources we used to source us with this information will be linked to the Bibliography.

Targets for A2

Four targets for my A2 Media Course

Ø  I have experimented what it’s like to work with a group of more than two people and it was easier for the group as a whole. This time round Georgia, Sabrina and I will make a schedule and stick to it with a few extra times to spend on any other stuff that could be due.
Ø  We will try and get feedback from all of our drafts or at least every other draft to see if there are any improvements we can make right away with plenty of time. For the AS course we didn’t get regular feedback, so it was a rush towards the end to improve it all.
Ø  We will make sure we spend an equal amount of time on each task that is set instead of making one piece better and the rest all at a minimum level as last time we focused on making the documents about the main task good and we didn’t focus enough on the actual main task and editing it.

Ø  With there being 3 of us in the group, it means the communication will be a lot easier and messages and times or dates of filming won’t get confused. It allows us to be more organised with our time as we don’t have to worry about other members not turning up.

What went well in AS Media

  • In AS Media, I managed to complete all work that i missed during the foundation of the course and I was able to pick up terminology and key themes/ideas that was needed for me to be successful in both the coursework and exam.
  • As a group, we managed to meet most of the deadlines with acceptable work.
  • As an individual, I had major motivation to do well in the coursework and I made sure I put 100% effort into making the editing as best as I could with the resources I was given.

What didn't go well in AS Media

  1. In year 12, I didn't start the Media Course until January which is very late to start the course. With this in mind, it meant I had a very short amount of time to catch up on a lot of work. This proved to be a challenge with regards to the group as they made an excuse to wait for me and dint take the work upon their own shoulders.
  2. Considering I was friends with most of my group in year 12, you would expect us to all work well together. This is where I was proved wrong as the group had really bad communication skills which meant we were unable to work on schedules effectively.
  3. The standard of the groups work was very low as no-one put effort into the work as they thought it would be easy to make up the marks.
